El Ahogamiento es una de las causas de muerte y sufrimiento más importante en todo el mundo. Es nuestro común enemigo, contra el que luchamos a diario. Y también el vínculo que nos une más estrechamente. Miles de personas trabajan cada día en todo el mundo para prevenir y reducir los ahogamientos, preservando la vida. Creemos firmemente que en su mayoría están sinceramente preocupados por mejorar su entrenamiento y desempeño.
En SICOD, deseamos contar con la colaboración de personas, organizaciones, empresas e instituciones de todo el mundo que quieran trabajar en aras de la prevención de los ahogamientos, la seguridad acuática y la mejora de los sistemas de preparación, rescate e intervención en Socorrismo Acuático.
El Congreso proporcionará un foro para que educadores, científicos, personal de emergencia y socorristas puedan compartir investigaciones, experiencias y estimular el debate en las diversas áreas de la seguridad acuática, prevención, primeros auxilios, socorrismo, educación e intervención comunitaria, rescate acuático y sus aplicaciones.

Lifesaving and Water Safety
Drowning is one of the main and most costly causes of deaths and suffering around the world. It is our common enemy, we fight against it daily. What's more, drowning is in fact our strongest bond. Thousands of people around the world work every day in order to reduce and prevent drowning-related accidents and preserve people's lives. We firmly believe that a majority of them are genuinely concerned about their professional training and performance.
In the last few years, the links between the people and the local and international water safety organizations have generated widespread interdisciplinary and global interest. They now constitute an important area of study with major implications in the fields of prevention, water safety and lifesaving for a range of professionals and political authorities.
We wish to collaborate with all types of organizations and institutions worldwide willing to work towards the prevention of drowning and water-related accidents and the continuous improvement of lifesaving training methods and techniques.
The SICOD conference will provide a forum for educators, scientists and emergency personnel to share research, experiences and ideas and to stimulate debate on current issues and controversies relating to water safety, first aid, water rescue and intervention, lifesaving, lifeguarding, education and their practical applications.
